Procedures to be followed by pet owner:

  • Ensure that your pet's vaccinations for Rabies and for 5 in 1 (dogs) or 3 in 1 (cats) are up to date. If the vaccinations were done more than six months before commencing quarantine, revaccination is strongly recommended. If revaccination is necessary before admission into quarantine, ask your vet to exclude the Leptospirosis vaccination.
  • Your pet must have been continuously resident in South Africa for at least six months before export. If only three months’ quarantine is done in South Africa, it is necessary to either get a letter from your veterinarian to confirm this, or have a letter certified by a Commissioner of Oaths to this effect.
  • Your pet has to be microchipped. Your vet can do that but if necessary we can also do it here.

We'll need the following from you:

  • Vaccination certificates – past and present.
  • An address and telephone number in Australia. This does not have to be your own, but may be a friend’s, relative’s or even an agent or place of work.
  • Declaration of your pet's continuous residence for at least three months prior to quarantine.
